Miniature 3-wheeled pull cart, made as a toy by Aaron Folger, Nantucket, signed and dated 1853. Original paint. Reinforced box design with removable rear panel is typical of local carts of the day. Unusual 3-wheel design. oa length 15 1/4 in.
Aaron Folger (1776-1858) was a cooper who worked for the ill-fated whaleship Essex in 1819. In the 1840's he was the keeper of the Great Point Light and in 1842 patented an improvement in lighthouse lamp design.
