This rare narrative relates the bloody mutiny and murders perpetrated by harpooner and boatsteerer Samuel Comstock, who was himself murdered by four distrustful fellow mutineers. Other crew members who were not part of the mutiny stole the ship and sailed to Valparaiso. Of the remaining crew who were stranded on Mili Atoll in the Mulgrave Islands, Lay and Hussey were the only survivors of a massacre by the natives. They were later rescued by the U.S. Schooner Dolphin.

Original or early binding in full calf with minor restoration to the gilt ruled and titled spine. A very good copy of this exceedingly rare book. Minimal foxing and minor water staining.
