"Nantucket Memories" by Alexander Seaverns, ca, 1910-20

This charming collage of a pen and ink drawing with 8 miniature photographs of Nantucket scenes by Henry S. Wyer, is attributed to Alexander H. Seaverns (? - 1932). A very similar drawing, titled �How dear to my heart are the scenes of my Childhood.� is the frontispiece of The Nantucket Scrap Basket, by William F. Macy and Roland B. Hussey, published in 1916. Seaverns came to Nantucket in the 1890�s where he was the first art teacher in the public schools. Archivally mounted in a vintage frame. 14 1/2 in. x 23 in., sight; 25 1/4 in. x 33 1/4 in., oa.
