Product Description
This is an exceedingly rare whale oil tryworks bailer mounted on original wooden pole. Sheet metal "pail" with wrought iron attachment ring and 5/8 in. diameter shaft with socket and support tang. OA length approx. 80 in.; length of shaft and socket only, 26 in. The pail is 10 1/2 in. in diameter at the open end, 8 3/4 in. in diameter at the bottom and is 9 in. deep. The condition is very good, with normal expected pitting. The pole is approx. 50 in. long and 1 3/4 in. in diameter with a hole 10 1/2 in. from the butt end through which there is a loop of line and marlin wrapping beneath it.
