This 2 volume Limited Edition of Starbuck’s landmark history of the American whale fishery is one of 750 published in 1964 by Argosy-Antiquarian Ltd. This extremely important work was first published in 1878 by the U.S. Commission of Fish and Fisheries. The 2 hard cover cased volumes are bound in gray cloth with gilt lettering and a decorative blue whale on the front covers. The interior pages are clean and fresh. There is some foxing to the lower portions of the spines. The case shows wear to the edges and corners. 6.5 in wide; 9.5 in. high.
