The first log in this book is for the Whaling bark Eliza, James Witherell, master, and the second is for the bark Yamoyden, a merchant vessel from Baltimore.
The Eliza left New Bedford on July 1st, 1865 and returned on April 23, 1869. Daily entries in this book cover the period from April 26, 1867 to August 23, and resume on September 12 with entries until July 28, 1868 when she arrived at Fiji. This was a very successful voyage and there are whale stamps as well as descriptions of whaling activity.
The Yamoyden sailed for Rio De Janeiro on June 26th, 1869 and entries cover the period from her sailing to her return on Oct. 29, 1869.
