Rare whaling letter with most unusual content. Addressed to whaling merchant I.H. Bartlett in New Bedford, the writer, Chas. Wyman is seeking to go on a whaling voyage and is asking what he must pay to secure a position. Dated Sept. 27th, 1854. Ink is very light but readable.
Together with a second letter to Bartlett from Robison & Hyde, dated March 9th, 1848 relating to payment of an invoice and inquiring about sale of empty casks. Stampless cover postmarked Portland.
