Product Description
This antique scrimshaw walrus tusk is engraved on the obverse side with a full figure portrait identified as Minnehaha, the fictional Indian maiden memorialized in Longfellow's poem, The Song of Hiawatha. Above her is a trumpeting angel in flight. Wrapping around to the reverse of the tusk are two tepees. 18 3/4 in. long, with a hole drilled near the tip. !9th C.
