2635a Wonderful carved wooden figurehead. Fine classical full figure in stepping position of a young woman in period gown and hair style with brooch at the neckline. She holds a rose in her right hand. A shawl in her left hand is draped over the lacing board to her right arm. The original mounting ( “drift”) pin is in tact and protrudes at the back of the lacing board. Pine. Polychromed English ca 1860 On a custom made pedestal. Oa height 52 in.
