Explosive harpoon made for the extremely rare swivel whaling gun patented by Henry W. Mason and Patrick Cunningham of New Bedford on December 12, 1882. When used, a fuse would have ignited the black powder within the magazine. Unthreading the magazine reveals the fuse tube. 33 1/2 in. long. Excellent condition.
